Industry Veteran Kevin Simmons Joins Yoder & Frey

Industry stalwart Kevin Simmons has joined Yoder & Frey to drive the company’s expansion in the Southeastern states.

With nearly 30 years of experience in the heavy machinery sector—primarily with a leading Caterpillar dealership—Kevin joins Yoder & Frey to expand the brand and support its diversification efforts.

 
Starting his career at Yancey in the parts department before transitioning to used sales and branch management, Kevin quickly demonstrated his commitment to excellence. Building a strong track record as a performance-driven leader, he consistently delivered growth while expanding his expertise. Kevin became a territory sales rep for Yancey in 2000 and worked in that role for 17 years before stepping into Used Equipment as Assistant Used Equipment Manager for South Georgia. He decided to further his career into sales management by later accepting the role of Forestry Sales Manager. He later advanced to Southeast Region Sales Manager while concurrently managing the Forestry New & Used segment.


Now, as the Georgia Regional Sales Manager for Yoder & Frey, Kevin brings his industry expertise, leadership skills, and passion for success to the team. He shares his enthusiasm for this new chapter and explains why he joined Yoder & Frey:


“My 30 years selling CAT machinery has been an incredible journey—from starting on the warehouse floor to leading the Southeast Region/ Forestry division, however, with my appetite to achieve, I wanted to try something different. So, after three decades with the company, I was ready for a new challenge.”


“The opportunity with Yoder & Frey was too good to pass up. Working for a smaller company with strong family values and exciting growth potential really appealed to me. I’ve known about Yoder & Frey for years, buying and selling through them, and I’ve also been keeping an eye on the Euro Auctions brand as it has expanded globally. Their expansion into the U.S. and Canada from the UK and Europe, where they are recognized as the number one auction specialists in our sector, really caught my attention.”


“My mind was made up when I met the principals of Yoder & Frey and Euro Auctions. I was impressed by their hands-on, can-do attitude. I thought, This is a business run by passionate people who know machines inside and out, and I liked that. This was evident at the recent Kissimmee sale, an event Yoder & Frey started over 50 years ago. The owners of the Euro Auctions group were actively involved in the sale, and I saw firsthand their dedication. At one point, when a machine wouldn't start and couldn’t be moved across the ramp, the head of the company, Derek Keys, personally stepped in, jerry-rigged it, and got it moving. I’ve never seen anything like it—here was a company founder working alongside his team. That was incredibly refreshing to witness.”


Now in his new role, Kevin plans to leverage the relationships he has built over the past 30 years to introduce more clients to the Yoder & Frey brand. With expertise across all machinery sectors, he aims to bring new business to Yoder & Frey’s four U.S. locations in Ohio, Florida, Texas, and Georgia.


How does Kevin unwind when he’s not working?


As a self-proclaimed workaholic, Kevin finds great joy in his career. However, in his spare time, he enjoys family life, playing golf, and spending time on his latest acquisition—a boat.
